The indictee Milojko Kovačević (1962) is charged with crimes committed against Bosniak victims from the Višegrad area in 1992.

INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY COMMITTED IN VIŠEGRAD AREA

A prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes filed an indictment against:

- Milojko Kovačević, born in 1962 in Višegrad, residing in Užice, Serbia.

The indictee is charged with having participated in the persecution and crimes committed against the civilian population during a widespread and systematic attack on the Bosniak civilian population in the area of Višegrad and the surrounding area, as a member of the reserve police forces of the SJB Višegrad.

According to the allegations from the indictment, in June 1992 the indictee committed the forcible removal, torture, ill-treatment and beating of Bosniak civilians from Donje Veletovo, Višegrad municipality.

The indictee is also charged that in June 1992 he, armed with an automatic rifle, personally took part in the forcible transfer of Bosniak civilian population from Donje Veletovo, Višegrad municipality, when the entire population was forcibly transported to the area of Sokolac municipality where women, children and the elderly were expelled to the territory under the control of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and about 50 Bosniak men escorted by armed members of the VRS and police were taken to the Paklenik pit where they were killed and where only one person survived the shooting.

The indictee is charged with the criminal offence of Crimes against Humanity in violationi of Article 172 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The Prosecution will prove the allegations of the indictment by inviting 12 witnesses, of which 2 witnesses with granted protection measures and by adding several dozens of material evidence.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH.
