INDICTMENT FILED FOR CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY COMMITTED IN ZVORNIK AREA

The indictee Cvijan Tomanić (1966) is charged with having committed a crime against victims of Bosniak and Albanian ethnicity in Glumina near Zvornik in 1992.

INDICTMENT FILED FOR CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY COMMITTED IN ZVORNIK AREA

A prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH filed an indictment against:

- Cvijan Tomanić, born on 10.04.1966 in Zvornik.

The indictee is charged with the fact that he, within a widespread and systematic attack of the Republika Srpska Army (VRS) directed against Bosniak civilian population in the area of Zvornik, as a member of the VRS, acted contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Conventions on the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.

The indictee Tomanić is charged with killing a civilian of Albanian ethnicity by shooting at him from his pistol and ordering the remaining civilians, including minors, to bury his body.

He is also charged with taking two Bosniak civilians in an unknown direction after which every trace of them was lost and whose mortal remains were subsequently exhumed from a mass grave at Crni Vrh near Zvornik.

The indictee Tomanić is charged with having committed the criminal offence of Crimes against Humanity in violation of Article 172 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina will prove the allegations from the indictment by calling 28 witnesses, 6 of which with foreseen protective measures, as well as by filing more than 200 pieces of evidence.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
