INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN VIŠEGRAD

Slađan Tasić (1968) is charged with persecuting Bosniak civilian population on ethnic and religious grounds by participating in the capture and forcible disappearance of persons in Višegrad in 1992.

INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN VIŠEGRAD

Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH issued an indictment against the following person:

-      Slađan TASIĆ, born in 1968 in Bijela - Višegrad municipality, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia.

The accused is charged with having, during the widespread and systematic attack of the Army of the RS and the police of the PSS Višegrad assisted by paramilitary formations from the Republic of Serbia directed against the Bosniak civilian population in the Višegrad municipality, while acting in his capacity as a member of the Višegrad Public Security Station, actively participated in the attack with his actions.

According to the indictment, the accused is charged with having, on 16 June 1992 in the Višegrad Municipality area, along with several other members of the RS Army and Police and the previously accused persons: Momir Tasić, Petar Tasić and Mirko Tasić against whom criminal proceedings are under way before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the same criminal offense, participated in the forced disappearance of a total of 6 Bosniak victims i.e. men who had previously been deprived of their liberty and then forcibly and under threat, driven in an unknown direction and had since disappeared  without a trace. They are still missing.

The accused is charged with having committed the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity under Article 172 (1) (h) (i) of the CC BiH, in conjunction with Articles 29 and 180 (1) of the same Code.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
