INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY AGAINST ETHNIC SERB VICTIMS IN KONJIC AND ITS SURROUNDING AREA

A total of 14 accused persons are charged with war crimes involving the killing of dozens of Serb civilians of both sexes and different ages, torture, ill-treatment, plundering and persecution of almost the entire civilian population of Serb ethnicity from the area of Konjic, Bradina and the surrounding area.

INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY AGAINST ETHNIC SERB VICTIMS IN KONJIC AND ITS SURROUNDING AREA

Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH issued an indictment against the following persons:

-        Esad Ramić, born in 1966 in Konjic, currently in custody,

-        Šefik Nikšić, born in 1945 in Konjic, currently in custody,

-        Adnan Alikadić AKA "Bato", born in 1962 in Sarajevo, currently  in custody,

-        Mitke Pirkić, born in 1962 in Konjic, currently in custody,

-        Redžo Balić, born in 1952 in Konjic, currently in custody,

-        Hamed Lukomirko, born in 1971 in Konjic, currently in custody,

-        Safaudin Ćosić, born in 1974 in Konjic,

-        Muhamed Cakić, born in 1968 in Konjic,

-        Ismet Hebibović AKA Broće, born in 1956 in Konjic, currently in custody,

-        Almir Padalović, born in 1968 in Mostar, currently in custody,

-        Enes Jahić, born in 1969 in Konjic, prohibiting measures ordered,

-        Senadin Ćibo, born in 1967 in Konjic, currently in custody,

-        Agan Ramić, born in 1962 in Konjic, currently in custody,

-        Sead Jusufbegović, born in 1941 in Konjic;

 

The accused persons are charged with having, during the war and armed conflict in BiH within a widespread and systematic attack against the ethnic Serb civilian population in the area of Konjic and its surroundings, while acting in their capacity as commanders and members of the structures of the Army of R BiH, TD, CDC, MoI and paramilitary formations, participated in the attack and with having acted contrary to the provisions of International Humanitarian Law and the Geneva Conventions relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons at Time of War.

 

The accused are charged with being responsible for the attacks and killing of dozens of Serb civilians of both sexes, including children and elderly persons, and torture, ill-treatment, inhumane treatment and unlawful imprisonment of a large number of Serb victims from the town of Konjic and the surrounding villages of Bradina, Cerići, Zukići, Brđani, Džepi, Zagorice, Hum, Blace, Nevizdraci, Donje Selo, Vrdolje, Živanja, Sitnik, Bjelovčina, Zabrđani, Bijela and other villages that are connected to the mentioned villages in the area of the municipality of Konjic.

Many civilians were unlawfully imprisoned and taken to the camps and prison facilities in the Konjic area, where torture and abuse of the victims continued, and the crimes committed during 1992 and 1993 caused persecution of almost all of the Serb population from the area, of which only a small number returned to the place of pre-war residence.

The accused are charged with the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity referred to in Article 172 of the CC BiH

The Prosecution will prove the indictments by summoning 167 witnesses, 3 expert witnesses and tendering about 780 pieces of material evidence.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation
