Once the suspect is examined, the Assigned Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH will file a motion with the Court of BiH for remand in custody of the suspect Alminko Islamović, born in 1960.

The suspect is under investigation for having, as a former member of the HVO Military Police, committed war crimes against Serb victims in several locations in the Bosanski Brod area in 1992.

Crimes for which he is suspected include killings, unlawful imprisonment, torture and ill-treatment, and use of Serb civilians as the so-called "living shield" in the Bosanski Brod area.

The measure of remand in custody will be requested for the reasons stipulated in Article 132 (a) and (b) of the CPC BiH i.e. due to risk of flight as the suspect has the citizenship of the Republic of Croatia and could become inaccessible to the judiciary of BiH, as well as the risk that by being out the suspect could interfere with the investigation, conceal evidence and influence the witnesses or accomplices.

The suspect was deprived of liberty at the border crossing at the exit from Bosnia and Herzegovina, pursuant to the order of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, after which he was handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
