INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR CRIMES AGAINST CIVILIANS COMMITTED IN ZVORNIK

Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH issued an indictment against the following persons:

INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR CRIMES AGAINST CIVILIANS COMMITTED IN ZVORNIK

1. Sakib HALILOVIĆ, born in 1959 in the village of Novo Selo, municipality of Zvornik, citizen of BiH, and

2. Elfeta VESELI, born in 1960 in Dremljak, Uroševac, Republic of Serbia, citizen of BiH.

The accused are charged with having, during the war and armed conflict between the RS Army and the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in their respective capacities i.e.  Sakib Halilović as Platoon Commander and Elfeta Veseli as a soldier, members of the Sabotage Squad of the Command of joint units Liplje, Kamenica within the Armed Forces of BiH, acted contrary to the rules of international humanitarian law, in violation of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilan Persons in Time of War, and with having committed War Crimes against an underage ethnic Serb victim.

The aforementioned persons are charged with having,  in the summer of 1992, near a place called Kamenica located close to Zvornik, acted as following:  the accused Veseli used a cold weapon and  killed, in an extremely cruel manner,  a twelve year old ethnic Serb boy Slobodan Stojanović; the accused Halilović  watched the killing at close range and did not prevent her to commit murder, he also failed to take necessary and reasonable measures to punish a subordinate soldier who committed the killing after it happened.

The accused are charged with having committed the following: Sakib Halilović the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians under Article 173 (1)(c) in conjunction with Article 180 (2) of the CC BiH, and Elfeta Veseli with the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians under Article 173(1)(c) of the same Code.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
