INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR SMUGGLING OF ARMS AND AMMUNITION

Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an Indictment against Meho Habibović, born in 1995 in Tuzla, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.  

INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR SMUGGLING OF ARMS AND AMMUNITION

The accused is charged with attempting to move from Bosnia and Herzegovina and across the customs line of the Border Crossing in Orašje a larger quantity of arms and ammunition, on 11 October 2016, namely, five (5) pistols of various brands and calibres, several pieces of ammunition and matching bullets, and other equipment. 

According to the allegations in the Indictment, those arms, equipment and ammunition, which were procured illegally and intended for smuggling and illegal sale in the territory of the Republic of France, Habibović attempted to smuggle hidden under his jacket; however, police officers of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina spotted those arms, equipment and ammunition during the passengers’ control and seized them.

This accused person is charged with the commission of the criminal offense of Illicit Trafficking in Arms and Military Equipment and Products of Dual Use, as referred to in Article 193, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in conjunction with Article 26 of the same Code.

The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
