PERSON ACCUSED OF WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN ŠTRPCI CONCLUDED PLEA AGREEMENT

By virtue of signing the Plea Agreement he pledged to testify in the case against the other accused persons

Mićo Jovičić (1961), one of the accused within the scope of the case concerning war crimes committed against the passengers kidnapped from a train in Štrpci - near Višegrad, concluded, in presence of his counsel, an Agreement on admission of guilt for war crimes committed in February 1993.

The accused fully admitted his participation in the crime committed against 20 Ethnic Bosniak and Croat passengers who were forcibly taken out of the Belgrade-Bar train in Štrpci after which they were tortured, abused and killed on the banks of Drina river.

Pursuant to the agreement a sentence of 5 years of imprisonment was proposed for the accused.  

The proposed sentence is in line with the role of the accused in the crime, for it was established that he was at the scene, that he secured the location but that he did not participate in the killings of victims.

During the investigation the accused admitted his involvement in this war crime and expressed remorse. 

Pursuant to the agreement the accused pledged to testify in the case against the other accused persons, as well as in other cases relating to this crime.

The crime committed against the passengers on the train was resolved through joint efforts of the prosecutor’s offices of BiH and Serbia.

The agreement was forwarded to the Court of BiH.
