CHIEF PROSECUTOR MET WITH THE DIRECTOR OF THE USAID MISSION TO BIH. STRENGTHENING OF CAPACITIES TO FIGHT CORRUPTION DISCUSSED AT THE MEETING

The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Goran Salihović, has met with the Director of the USAID Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. David Barth.

At this meeting, the issues of cooperation between the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the USAID Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which had been realized in an earlier period of time, and the planned activities for future implementation have been discussed.

During this meeting, the activities undertaken by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in relation to fighting trafficking in persons and prosecuting and punishing rapes and sexual violence committed during the war, as well as those in relation to combating corruption and prosecuting perpetrators of the criminal offenses of corruption have been discussed.

The Chief Prosecutor has informed Director Barth about a case formed within the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina which will investigate events related to the National Museum in Sarajevo, as this is an institution of great cultural and historical significance for Bosnia and Herzegovina. The USAID Director has expressed his support to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in protecting cultural institutions of great significance for Bosnia and Herzegovina.  

Director Barth has informed the Chef Prosecutor about the future activities that will be undertaken with respect to strengthening the capacities to fight corruption in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Chief Prosecutor has supported the idea of strengthening the fight against corruption as one of the priorities in establishing the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the USAID Mission in our country have a long-standing and successful cooperation in strengthening judicial capacities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
