EXHUMATION OF VICTIMS KILLED DURING THE PAST WAR CARRIED OUT IT VLASENICA MUNICIPALITY

An exhumation was carried out at two locations in Vlasenica municipality resulting with the uncovery of skeletal remains of the victims killed during the past war.

Bone fragments of a crushed skull were unearthed at the location Dolovi-Džamdžić while a bone was found at the location of Durakovići.

The recovered remains shall be transported to the Commemorative Centre Tuzla, where DNA samples shall be collected in order to determine the identity of the victims. The DNA analysis shall be handled by the DNA laboratory of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).

The exhumation process was supervised by an investigator of the Prosecutor's Office who acted on instructions of the prosecutor and coordinated the efforts of police, forensics and other authorized persons participating in the exhumation process.

The exhumation was attended by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, representatives of Vlasenica PS, a doctor specializing in forensic medicine, workers of the Commemorative Center Tuzla and an Investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other institutions involved in the process of tracing the missing, continues its activities in the process of tracing and exhuming the missing in all parts of BiH.
