UPON THE ORDER OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH, EIGHT PERSONS DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY ON SUSPICION OF WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN ROGATICA

This morning, acting pursuant to an Order issued by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, authorized SIPA police officers deprived eight persons of their liberty in the territory of Rogatica and its surroundings, on suspicion of the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity.

Upon the Order of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, the following persons were deprived of liberty:

- Radomir Marković, born on 22 June 1954 in Rogatica,

- Mile Kušić, born on 07 January 1971 in Rogatica,

- Dragan Božović, born on 19 March 1968 in Rogatica,

- Saša Perković, born on 14 October 1971 in Rogatica,

- Radomir Gluhović, born on 07 January 1964 in Rogatica,

- Pero Radović, born on 16 May 1963 in Rogatica,

- Ilija Vukašinović, born on 14 September 1961 in Rogatica, and 

- Miloš Vukašinović, born on 01 March 1968 in Rogatica.

The aforementioned suspects have been under investigation of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH due to the suspicion that, in September 1992, as members of the RS Army forces armed with automatic weapons, they carried out persecution of Bosniak civilian population from several villages, including the villages of Vragolovi, Golubovići and Karačići, as part of a widespread and systematic attack directed against Bosniak population in the territory of Rogatica Municipality.

These accused persons were persecuting population and pillaging property, and when they found around twenty Bosniak civilians in a garage in the village of Karačići, women and children among them, who had hid there trying to escape from the attack, they moved those civilians to a nearby barn and locked them up there, and then the suspect Mile Kušić shot a burst of fire from his automatic weapon at these persons with the intention to kill them; all the detained persons were killed at that time.  

On that occasion, the barn caught fire and at that location, at the scene of the fire, remains of the bodies of four persons were found, whereas the bodies of other victims have not been found yet.

The suspect Mile Kušić is charged with shooting from his automatic weapon at the feet of a Bosniak male during the attack on Kramer Selo, Rogatica Municipality, and demanding that the latter give him jewelry and valuables, whereas the suspect Ilija Vukašinović is charged with singling out and killing a Bosniak male.

The suspects Mile Kušić, Ilija Vukašinović and Saša Perković are charged with forcing the illegally arrested civilians from Kramer Selo and Rakitinca to move towards the settlement of Han Stjenica and the elementary school building, and separating men from women and children on that occasion; subsequently, the women and children were illegally detained, whereas a lager number of these men were killed and their bodies have not been found yet. 

These accused persons are charged with the commission of the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity, as referred to in Article 172 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

After questioning the suspects, the Prosecutor in charge of the case will decide whether to file a motion for custody.
