Information for the media concerning the activities undertaken within the scope of the Protocol on cooperation in the prosecution of perpetrators of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.
Maintaining cooperation in accordance with the Protocol on Cooperation represents a positive step in the fight against impunity for war crimes, and is supported by the European Union in accordance with the conclusions of the EU-BiH Structured Dialogue on Justice.
Following the signing of the Protocol a series of meetings were held between representatives of the two prosecutor's offices and soon there should be another meeting where both the Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and the War Crimes Prosecutor of Serbia shall participate.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH welcomes the positive developments occurring after the signing of the Protocol on Cooperation in the Prosecution of Perpetrators of War Crimes, Crimes Against Humanity and Genocide, aiming to undertake all activities in ensuring that the perpetrators of war crimes can not escape prosecution in the future because of the fact that they have citizenship of other countries.
This joint cooperation is viewed as a positive step in light of European integration of the countries in the region and an effort aiming to strengthen the rule of law, assist the process of reconciliation and ensure that justice is served thus fulfilling the expectations of war crime victims and their families.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH will make every effort to provide support and assistance to colleagues in Serbia in accordance with the Protocol. Naturally, we can not talk about the details of the cases and the mutual assistance as it would not be professional nor would it be in accordance with professional prosecutorial standards to do so through the media.
