  • OVER THE PAST TWO DAYS PROSECUTORS OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH COORDINATED ACTIVITIES ON PREVENTION AND PROSECUTION OF ILLEGAL MIGRATIONS

The prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH working on the case received information from the Border Police of BiH that a citizen of BiH and the Republic of Serbia was prevented from smuggling four minors from the area of Kosovo in the area of Bratunac. The suspect, driving a Fiat car with the national licence plates of the Republic of Serbia, repeatedly ignored the orders issued by police officers to stop the vehicle he was driving. The discovered foreign citizens were handed over to members of the Service for Foreigners Affairs of BiH and a report will be filed against the perpetrator for the criminal offence of smuggling of persons and preventing an authorised officer from performing official duties under the Criminal Code of BiH.

Acting within his on-duty work, a Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, in contact and in coordination with police officers of the Border Police of BiH and in cooperation with officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, coordinated activities to detect and deprive the BiH citizen of his freedom when preventing the smuggling of 17 foreign nationals and three persons who did not have any identification documents on them at the International Border Crossing Šamac on the way out of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The mentioned persons were discovered inside the cargo space during the inspection of the freight motor vehicle driven by the BiH citizen. Upon the order of the on-duty prosecutor, the police officers of the BiH Border Police will make a detailed report on the committed criminal offence, which they will submit to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH for further processing.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, together with partner institutions and agencies, implements activities related to the prosecution of criminal offences of smuggling of persons and illegal migration in cities and areas throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina almost on a daily basis.
