INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR MOTOR VEHICLE SMUGGLING
12.11.2020. 10:30- AVDO BUREKOVIĆ, born in 1970 in Zenica, a citizen of BiH and the UK.
The accused is charged that in the period from 01.01.2017 to 10.05.2019, he as a UK citizen, with the aim of acquiring illegal property gain, brought a large number of motor vehicles to the territory of BiH through international border crossing points and then, without going through a legal procedure for their import and without paying statutory import duties, sold vehicles at car junkyards thus damaging the budget and the State of BiH by a total of BAM 183,107.82.
According to the indictment, the accused repeatedly transported across the customs line a number of motor vehicles the import of which requires special approval, i.e. payment of statutory duties to Bosnia and Herzegovina, without proper approval and by evading customs control measures, whereby he committed the criminal offence of Smuggling of Goods under Article 214 (2) of the Criminal Code of BiH as read with Paragraph 1 thereof, all in conjunction with Article 54 of the same Code.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
