REMAND IN CUSTODY PROPOSED FOR PERSONS SUSPECTED OF SMUGGLING NARCOTIC DRUG MARIJUANA FROM BIH TO CROATIA
09.04.2018. 15:06Remand in custody was proposed on grounds listed in Article 132 (b) and (c) of the BiH CPC i.e. risk of being able to interfere with the investigation, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accomplices, as well as the risk of repeating or completing the criminal offence.
Remand in custody was proposed for suspects:
- Mirko ATILJEVIĆ, born in 1992 in Trebinje, a citizen of BiH and
- Blagoje KOVAČ, born in 1997 in Trebinje, a citizen of BiH.
The suspects were deprived of liberty in an operation conducted pursuant to the order of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, which refers to the prosecution of persons suspected of committing criminal offenses of organized crime and illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs under the BiH Criminal Code.
They are under investigation for having joined a criminal group, with the aim of acquiring unlawful property gain, and for having participated in the international smuggling of narcotic drug "Marijuana-Skank" from Bosnia and Herzegovina into Republic of Croatia.
The suspects were deprived of liberty in the border belt in the area of the municipality of Ravno when spotted by members of the BiH Border Police attempting to illegally transfer narcotic drugs which were in a sac and bags across the state border. About 35 kilograms of narcotic drug "Marijuana - Skank" was seized in the operation on suppression of the abuse of narcotic drugs.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH continues its investigation in this case.
