INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST DANIJEL VLAŠIĆ (1981) FOR SMUGGLING

05.01.2012. 15:02
Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH issued an indictment against Danijel Vlašić, born on August 2, 1981 in Imotski in Republic of Croatia, residing in Grude, a citizen of BiH and Republic of Croatia.

The accused is charged that on August 18, 2011, at about 19:20 hrs., at the international border crossing Gorica in the municipality of Grude, in a motor vehicle with Croatian license plates he had 7920 cigarettes in his possession, which he intended to smuggle from Bosnia and Herzegovina into Republic of Croatia and which were manufactured by Tobacco Factory Rovinj – its brands: Ronhill Lights, Ronhill Super Lights, white Walter Wolf and black Walter Wolf, with excise stamps of the Republic of Croatia and Republic of Serbia and with estimated value of 22,000.00 KM.

As alleged in the indictment, Danijel Vlašić did not report nor show the aforementioned goods to the customs officers of Bosnia and Herzegovina thus he acted contrary to the provisions of Article 37 of the Law on Customs Policy of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Official Gazette of BiH no. 57/04), but was prevented in his intentions by members of the Border Police who have found and seized the cigarettes during control and inspection.

The accused is charged to have transported goods, whose import requires specific approval or authorization of the competent authority, across the customs line without appropriate approval and while avoiding custom control measures by which he committed the criminal offense of Smuggling of Goods under Article 214, Paragraph 1 of the CC BiH.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
