Police officers of the Federation Police Department have, pursuant to the order of the Prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption, arrested the following suspect:
- Adis Abaz, born in 1979 in Zenica, a citizen of BiH.
The suspect is under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH within the scope of an international operation conducted in cooperation with partner agencies of the Republic of Slovenia, with the aim of detecting and prosecuting members of an organized criminal group whose members are charged with procurement and smuggling of a large quantity of automatic weapons and ammunition from BiH to the Republic of Slovenia and further towards EU countries.
This activity is a continuation of an investigation in which twenty days ago, in the territory of Slovenia, the police detected and seized a vehicle with BiH registration plates, specially altered for the smuggling of goods, in which about 20 automatic rifles were discovered.
It was found that the weapons originated from BiH and were smuggled from BiH to Slovenia for further smuggling to EU countries and sale at the illegal arms market to be used in commission of criminal offenses in EU countries.
The suspect will be handed over to the Assigned Prosecutor who will question him and then decide on a motion for remand in custody or prohibiting measures in accordance with the law.
