  • PERSON SUSPECTED OF WAR CRIME COMMITTED IN PRIJEDOR DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY IN THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY

Acting pursuant to an International Arrest Warrant issued upon the request of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, police authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany have identified and deprived of liberty in the area of Munich the following suspect:

-      Milorad Obradović aka ‘Stiven’, born on 06 January 1967 in Prijedor.

Suspect Milorad Obradović is subject to an investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as he is suspected to have participated in an unlawful deprivation of liberty of around 120 Bosniak civilians at the location of Miska Glava, in Prijedor Municipality, who were then taken to detention and subsequently shot at and executed at the location of Kipe- Ljubija, in July of 1992.

Also, this suspect is charged with shooting from firearms at the football field of the Rudar Football Club and killing, personally and directly, three civilians of Bosniak ethnicity.

The German judicial authorities have already initiated extradition procedure for the purpose of extraditing this suspect, and the respective suspect’s extradition to the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina is expected to occur in the period to follow, so that he could be prosecuted for the aforementioned war crime.

The judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina had been searching for this suspect for several months, whereas the operative information available had shown that he was residing abroad. One suspect has recently been deprived of liberty in the territory of Montenegro, as part of the same case.

Due to the aforementioned war crime, proceedings in the case against Slobodan Taranjac and others are being conducted in the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with its partner agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, countries in the region and worldwide, is undertaking activities aimed at locating, depriving of liberty and extraditing to Bosnia and Herzegovina war crimes suspects who are residing abroad.
