The exhumation has commenced today, and incomplete mortal remains of one person have been found, along with the parts of clothes and footwear and some personal documents.

Most probably this is the primary grave, and the search for mortal remains will continue in the days to follow.

The found mortal remains will be transported to the Commemorative Centre in Tuzla, for further forensic processing and in order to determine the victim’s identity by way of the DNA sample analysis.

The exhumation and the work of the authorized official persons is being coordinated by an Investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons and an expert forensic pathologist are present at the exhumation site, along with the necessary workers and the mechanization of the Commemorative Centre in Tuzla. The police officers of the Police Station in Vlasenica are securing the site and criminally processing the evidence and the scene.

Employees of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina participate, almost on a daily basis, in the search for mortal remains and in the exhumations of the victims of war crimes committed throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
